REAL STEEL

pic here

Aight people. Listen up. I saw this movie trailer, no joke, 100 times. I swear it was last year when they started showing this movie trailer and I was pretty underwhelmed.

The first time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “eh….Transformers with Hugh Jackman.”

The second time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “eh…I just saw this trailer.”

The third time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “eh….looks dumb.”

The fourth time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “WHAT THE CRAP IS THAT THE GIRL FROM LOST?! I AM THERE!”

The fifth time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “eh…..looks like Transformers with the chick from Lost.”

The sixth time I saw the trailer I thought to myself, “eh….I think I’ve seen this trailer before.”

……

The hundredth time I saw this trailer I thought to myself, “Oh…that movie is finally coming out? Aight (That is gangsta talk for alright.)”

So I saw it. First showing. Opening day.

And the verdict is…….it’s pretty darn good.

Hugh Jackman is this boxer dude. Evangeline Lilly(LOST chick) is this boxers dude long-time friend. And then there’s a kid. He’s like 10 years old so he’s probably not been in any other movies so his name is not important.

Boxer dude and LOST chick are fightin all the time cuz they’re good friends.  Boxer dude was a boxer dude until he picked up robot fighting. So pretty much he probably got sick of getting beat up all the time and picked up video gaming. I guess the LOST chick thought he was hot, so maybe I should pick up video gaming.

Then this kid gets thrown in the mix. I won’t ruin how he’s involved but you can probably guess. Anyways, the kid and boxer dude form this bond while fighting with their robot. Then it gets all Rocky(you know…that movie) on us with the inspiring lines, music, and Russian boxers.

Then the plot thickens and it ends.
It was actually a pretty tight(cool kid talk for ‘cool’) movie.  I found myself cheering in the theater, which actually was ok because it was a matinee and their weren’t a lot of people in the theater. There are also some ‘tear-jerker’ moments and you will shed a tear or two, unless you have a heart of steel(hahahaha).

I would recommend this movie cuz right now there aren’t a ton of good movies in the theaters. I would recommend Contagion over this movie, but Real Steel is a more uplifting, inspiring film.

So get the fam, and head to the movies.

You’re welcome.

MONEYBALL

pic here

Yo. Justin here. I asked my apprentice/friend/guest blogger Chad Tanner to write this post on Moneyball. I went and saw this movie with him but thought you guys would wanna hear someone else's opinion this time round. Why not? So be nice. Comment. And follow this blog. Alright Chad....do me proud! (I took the liberty of downloading a pic of Chad so you guys could all know what he looks like).

Author: Chad Tanner

So at some point of his movie-watching career, Justin must have realized it was lame going to the movies by himself and invited me along to see Moneyball with him. He also requested that I give a short review of the movie. This is my first guest appearance on any blog, ever, so I’ll try to not screw it up. (Though I don’t feel much like a guest since Justin gave me a deadline for this.)

Moneyball is a true story about the 2002 Oakland Athletics and their inability to compete with the big market teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. Brad Pitt plays Oakland’s general manager and Jonah Hill plays the assistant GM. They are faced with the task of replacing their three best players that left to other teams, but have little money to work with. They come up with a new system of evaluating players called “Moneyball”.

I absolutely loved the movie and thought Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill were good complements to each other. (Although Justin was disappointed Brad never took his shirt off.) It mixed the right amount of humor and drama, and really made you feel like you had an emotional investment in the games. At one point, Justin’s friend (I can’t remember his name, we’ll call him Anonymous) sighed loudly as Oakland gave up a big play. I was right there with Anonymous, totally invested in the outcome, just like any real sports game. If you’re a sports fan, this movie is a definite must. If you’re not, I would still recommend it. I would give the movie 5/5 but I think Justin was probably more around a 4/5. (Again, I think this is partially due to the fact that Justin was really pulling for a Brad Pitt shirtless scene.) It’s been a pleasure guest starring on Justin’s worldwide blog; hopefully you will enjoy Moneyball as much as I did.

Contagion

pic here

This movie= Genius.

I've already seen it twice. Yes, that is two times.

Usually when you go into a movie you watch it and leave and maybe talk about it for ten minutes.  Contagion is one that people will be talking about for a long time. I became obsessed with this movie. This movie has thrown my brain into crazy mode.

I feel like a crazy person, no joke. I look at people touch their faces and I think, "How DARE you touch your face?!"

I watch people share drinks and I think.....oh yeah....you're gonna die FYI.

I was at the BYU (Go Cougs! (haha (really I'm a Sun Devil fan))) game and I saw people touching the bleachers and their faces and I thought, CONTAGION!

Seriously people go see this movie. I have to go wash my hands right now because I just touched my computer keyboard.

Go. See. This. Movie.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

pic here

I just got home from the lake! So awesome! Oh wait, this is a movie blog. I’m not allowed to break the blog rules of conduct and talk about something other than movies.

Forgive me. Back to the good stuff.

So I remember when the first Planet of the Apes movie came out back in 1968. Good times.  Actually I don’t remember it. So I looked it up on Wikipedia. Go for it. Brush up on your ape history.  Long story short, the old movies are about some astronauts who go into space (go figure) and crash land on a planet of apes. These apes rule the land and they wear clothes and talk and stuff. Pretty freaky business. There were then four more movies because people loved the idea of apes ruling the world and humans being held captive by monkeys.

So then forty years later some guy named Tim Burton decided to reboot the series and made another movie back in 2001 called Planet of the Apes. Stupid. Tim Burton is an awesome director, but this movie was just plain stupid. It had some cliff-hanger ending that no one cared about. They were going to do a sequel but Tim Burton pretty much said, “yeah no thanks.”

So here we are. The year is 2011 and they decide to reboot those darn ape movies again.  There is one huge difference though between this movie and the 2001 Tim Burton film. This new one is actually good.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a prequel to the other five movies. It pretty much explains how the apes became smart and took over the world. Make sure to stay a little after the credits. It gives the audience more of an idea of how planet earth became ape planet.

I heard that there were a lot of haters out there before this came out.  This isn’t just a good Planet of the Apes movie. It’s a good movie in general.

I think one of the things that made this movie 100 times better than the 2001 movie was that this movie had CGI apes and not freaky, Halloween costume apes.  Remember when Mark Whalberg kissed the ape at the end of the 2001 movie? That was just wrong in every way.

This movie also had a more believable story. Some of you may actually laugh at that last sentence but I left that movie thinking, “Wow….could you imagine if that really happened?”

It could happen you know.

Do you want to know another reason I really liked this movie? Draco! Yeah that Tom Felton kid who plays Draco in all those Harry Potter movies is in this movie! I don’t know what his name was in the movie. Pretty much he acted the same as Draco and dyed his hair brown.  I was just glad to see a glimmer of Harry Potter in this movie.  Hey, I’ll take what I can get.

James Franco did a fairly decent job with his role. John Lithgow was surprisingly deep.  Brian Cox was also pretty legit. I mean the acting was all great but Andy Serkis took the cake.

Andy who? He played Ceaser, the ape, in the movie.  He played Gollum and King Kong.  He never gets enough credit for his roles but he did an incredible job being the CGI ape in this movie.

All in all, great show. I definitely recommend it. There will be people who don’t like it, but I loved it. A definite must see to close out the summer.

Cowboys and Aliens

pic here
The name of this movie is deceiving. It should be called “Cowboys and Aliens and A Whole Lot of Stupid.”

I could have written this movie.  Actually I couldn’t have. I am smarter than the screenwriters.

I love me a good alien movie. Super 8 was incredible. Cloverfield was incredible. Anyone who says differently lives a sad, sad life.

Cowboys and Aliens had so much potential! Ok let’s be honest. It didn’t have that much potential. I mean, the name of the movie is Cowboys and Aliens. But, I still had high expectations for this movie. The main reason I wanted to like it so much was because it was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man).  Iron Man was surprisingly entertaining.  I thought Jon could work some magic again with this movie but he definitely failed.

I think the thing that bugged me so much was the lack of originality.  ANYONE could have written this movie.  I needed a twist at the end or something.  But no. It was just stupid. It was like watching little kids playing ‘Cowboys and Indians’.

Speaking of ‘no originality’….I  am so tired of aliens always looking the same in every movie! Come on people!

Lame aliens. Lame cowboys. Lame story.

Just go rent True Grit and Cloverfield and watch them in the same night.  Yeah. Go do that.

I'm Not Dead

No that’s not the name of the last movie I’ve seen. It’s just a statement.  So it was funny because I was thinking about my movie blog the other day. I know that my audience depends on me and loves me so much.  I have betrayed you.  I ask for your forgiveness.

I quit watching movies and that is why I do not post anymore.

I decided that movies are evil and that they are a complete waste of time.

I am joking.

Just trying to get you to ‘lol’ a little.

So the last movie that I blogged about was Unknown.  Wow. That was back in February! It’s almost August. I’m going to be a better movie watcher I promise. I have repented of my lazy ways.

Here’s how I’ll make it up to you. I’ll give you a list of the movies I have seen since Unknown and write a little somethin somethin about them.

Here’s another thing I’m going to tell you.  This blog will have my movie reviews/opinions but in addition I’ll try and post more about movies in general.  I just love movies so much.  I love talking about actors and their connections in movies.  I am pretty much addicted to three different websites: rottentomatoes.com, boxofficemojo.com, and imdb.com.  You too will be addicted to these websites.  You will also be addicted to my website….. iseemoviestoo.blogspot.com

I just want to write about movies. How much they make. Who stars in them. And other cool movie stuff. So check back here more often and comment. I love to see who is reading this stuff and what you guys think.  I love people’s opinions and if there is certain stuff you are curious about just comment and ask me.   I promise I’ll answer. (Is it lying if you promise someone something on a website and don’t live up to that promise?)

Aight. So here you go. A BRIEF list of the movies I’ve seen and what I thought about them. I’ve repented. PLEASE check me out more often. And my website. (I feel like I’ve made that joke before.)

Adjustment Bureau- Wins the award for most deceiving movie. You think it’s gonna be a thriller and then BAM it’s a love story. I saw it twice in theaters. I liked it.

Beastly- Ha. Right. Like I saw this movie.

Rango- Didn’t see.

Battle L.A.- If you like action movies this one is packed with action. If you like movies with stories, then skip this one. I liked it though. But you know my aliens and me. (I love the song E.T. by Katy Perry and Kanye by the way. “I’ve got a dirty mind.”)

pic here
Limitless- Hmmmmm. Do drugs and life will go well for you. Weird message but I liked it. Good reviews but the majority of my friends didn’t like it.

Sucker Punch- I actually just saw this movie. EVERYONE said they hated it. So I had LOW expectations. It wasn’t THAT bad…

pic here

Insidious- Yeah. You’ll be scared.

Source Code-  Awesome movie. Definitely kept my interest even though it was only eight minutes of a movie over and over again. Still WAY better than the movie Vantage Point.

Hanna- Bizzare! “I just missed your heart.” Worth seeing. If you like weird movies.

Water for Elephants- No thanks. Vampires and elephants?  I didn’t see it.

Fast Five- AMAZING. I loved it. Fast. Furious. What’s not to like? (I hadn’t seen the first four movies in the franchise before seeing this one).

Something Borrowed- Chick flick. I laughed hard at some parts. Other parts I didn’t laugh. I honestly thought the whole storyline was sketchy. I didn’t want anyone to win in this movie.

Thor- Better than I expected.  It actually had a legit story. Of COURSE it was cheesy at some parts, but what superhero movie (besides the Nolan Batmans) isn’t cheesy.

Pirates 4- Did you see the first three? Enough said.

X-Men First Class- Was pleasantly surprised.  I even went to the midnight showing. I’m hard-core. I loved it.

pic here

Super 8- I LOVED THIS MOVIE. If you know me AT ALL then you know that I loved this movie.  JJ Abrams you are my hero. See this movie. (in the dollars at this point probably?)

Green Lantern- I watched the first 20 minutes and fell asleep for the rest. I was tired.  Maybe I’ll see it again. Looked kinda stupid though.

Transformers 3- A lot of action and way better than the second one. Not that that is saying much.  I liked it but also fell asleep for the last twenty minutes. I don’t know if the bad guys or good guys won.

pic here

Harry Potter Pt. 2- Way good. Coulda done without the ’19 years later’.

Captain America- I laughed A LOT in this movie. I liked it way better than Thor.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.- There were parts to this movie that were crazy. And parts that were stupid. And yes….I’m still looking for love.
